Kennesaw Georgia Gotta Gun Law - & 'Gun Barrel City' Texas:

Kennesaw Georgia is nowadays a suburb of Atlanta with some 33,000 residents - but back in 1982 they were a City of 5,000 that stirred-up the worlds media into hysteria by passing an ordnance requiring all heads of households to keep & maintain a firearm.

Since then other townships have done the same, e.g Nelson (Ga not NZ), - Spring City Utah, - Nucia Colorado,- Virgin Uta, & Gun Barrel City Texas .. where the City motto is: "We shoot straight with you.".

All of these localities are high gun ownership areas anyway - their passing laws that require arms to be kept are mainly a symbolic statement of political or social attitude.

In the 36 years since making firearms ownership mandatory - Kennesaw's property crime and violent crime figures have maintained consistent low levels at around 50% to 60% lower than the US average - while their population growth rate at 37.41% is well above State and National growth levels.

"If you're going to commit a crime in Kennesaw and you're the criminal -- are you going to take a chance that that homeowner is a law-abiding citizen?" asked Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling.

"People kind of get the image that it's the Wild West, where everybody walks around with a firearm strapped to their side, and it's not like that, It's strictly a home defense system type of deal. There's no shootouts down the street."

'Gun Barrel City' is a young community sited on the edge of Cedar Creek Reservoir in Henderson County, Texas. It has become popular with visitors for boating lake access and has a lakeside home building boom lately.
