NZ FIREARMS LAW CHANGES:

Heads-up:

All law abiding shooters and collectors here in New Zealand need to pay attention carefully ..

Parliament is going to bring about further expensive restrictions and REGISTRATION requirements.

The Inquiry into ILLEGAL POSSESSION is moving towards increased and expensive law changes that will specifically seek to further oppress 'Fit & Proper' Licensed Firearms Users.

PLEASE follow this link and take the time to read it:

http://www.sportshooter.co.nz/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=6319

YOU individually need to join a shooting organization such as COLFO or SSANZ.

- Only some 80 New Zealand shooters bothered to make a submission to The Parliamentary Inquiry - so that chance was missed by most of the shooting people.

- now you can just lay back and take what ever nonsense they throw at you - or try to stand up and be heard

Arsenal Firearms AF2011-A1 Double-Barrel 1911:

I just watched Hickok45 review the Brick - I guess he kind-of liked it - as a novelty - it certainly looks beautifully engineered & finished.

Arsenal Arms AF2011-A1 in 45 acp.

- I guess that while he wasn't exactly lost for words - he struggles to explain this pistol rationally - he appears 'bemused'.

https://www.full30.com/video/e119177002dcd4941391d87cdb3c14da?utm_source=system&utm_medium=email&utm_content=hickok45&utm_campaign=subscribers

Costing over US$7,000. for this tested  'Dueler Prismatic' compensated piece it's perhaps a "novelty" - maybe even a coffee table show-and-tell piece. For that price you might buy TEN Glocks that work.

- It threatens to snap like an alligator when dropping the slide and Hickok says that you need to double-check everything when working with it ..

Hmmm - interesting eh, - double-trouble - but then I don't like 'ole slabside' 45s anyway. - Maybe a Glock 20 in 45" caliber..

Marty K.
P.S. Am I wrong in observing that Hickok45 received a sample Kimber K6S revolver for review before he got this .45? - what has happened to the Kimber revolver??

Key Personnel Resignations:

- Funny how our Prime Minister John Key and the Italian -  one Matteo Renzi  - have both spat-out the dummy & chucked it in on the same day.
Nice watch eh.

Multi-Millionaire Key who was known as the 'Smiling Assassin' when he worked for Merrill Lynch in London - became known as "Teflon John" here in New Zealand after several gaffs showed that 'nothing seemed to stick to him'.

His politics are typical of any right-minded millionaire accountant - and the proles voted for him as he had a nice smile.

I doubt that his passing-on to greater wealth and luxury will much effect firearms users here, unless Minister of Police Judith Collins puts her hat into the ring for the job ..
Nice Rings.

- because she seems to like both Glocks and coffee.

- I'd have to ask her if she'd guest a blog here for me.. perhaps one about Oravida (Kauri Ruakaka Mill) exporting protected swamp Kauri logs to China.

The Gun Problem - Perspective Rather Than Perception:

Joke of the day: - Did you hear about the insomniac, agnostic, dyslexic? - He lay awake all night wondering if there really was a Dog.

To start - I have to explain that I don't have a clue about these specific chemical compounds. - Other than alcohol, tobacco & coffee - the only "drugs" that I've personally experienced was one 'reefer' cigarette in the dim & distant past that a young guy gave me to try around 1970 .. and having dragged all of its smoke deeply into my lungs and holding - I spent the next three/four hours feeling very ill from vertigo with my known world (a grubby toilet cubicle) spinning violently.
No Thanks.

However we all should pause to consider that while some 91 Americans die daily from guns (two thirds are suicides) - 78 victims die each day from overdosing of opioids - plus some 250 US persons die each day from 'Medical Misadventure' - suggesting 'doctors' may be a much bigger problem than firearms.

I'm assuming here that there are also further drug deaths directly caused by addictions other than opioids - you might do some checking of data yourself.. I don't really want to know all the sick detail.

What I'm saying is that we & the 'muricans' have other societal issues than guns to worry about eh.
- this is known as having Perspective. (as opposed to 'perception').

So - while buying a gun no more makes you a skilled & prepared shooter - than does buying a violin make you a musician - or owning a stethoscope makes you a doctor. - Don't let the hysterical screaming of the anti-gunners misdirect or deter you either - about e.g. You being more likely to shoot your toes off while laying in bed if you own a gun.

The rantings of frightened ignorant & stressed-out anti-gun paranoids certainly confirms that THEY should not have access to any potentially lethal object (such as a kitchen knife) and they should not be trusted near young children, or behind the wheel of motor vehicles. - Anyone complaining of loss of control with violent impulses when they handle a sharp or heavy object needs careful watching and supervision at all times.

It would be great if all bizarre believers,  'god-botherers' - 'bambi-cuddlers' - 'anti-gunners' and 'Climate Change deniers' - along with various other nutcase freaks like psychic mediums & UFO abductees (who might have had bodily fluid samples taken) .. diet-book writers, marketing executives, other con-artists, lobbyists - and proponents of extra-terrestrial ancestors - who might benefit from a partial lobotomy or electric shock treatment - could be re-educated - or conditioned to reality but .. They're all strangers to TRUTH.

A new term "Post Truth Politics" is becoming widespread in this age of corruption - referring to the way politicians ignore facts and real issues to persist with emotional arguments that 'scratch the itch' of poorly informed, aggrieved & resentful groups. - This seems to echo Orwells 1984 novel - where his ministry rewrites history every day to match their current policy needs.

It is now evident that both sides in the "BREXIT" referendum debate deliberately misinformed and repeatedly lied to the British voters about tax savings and likely benefits about the EU membership.

- Both the US Govt. and the British PM Tony Blair 'misspoke' about "Weapons of Mass Destruction" before attacking & invading Iraq in 2003.

- Why are these Fraudsters and Liars not prosecuted?

- It may be that "we" don't even care anymore about the truth - as so much media content we see now is political 'Spin', - product-placement advertising and 'special effects' with unscripted  "Reality Television" that is totally directed & edited, with enhanced images & re-staged unreal rubbish.

- Mind Control: - Anyone continually & repeatedly exposed to a proposition will likely accept it as a 'belief'. - exempli gratia - 99% of religious persons believe the same story that their parents taught them .. about  magic infallible writings (Confucian Great Learning, Bible, Koran, Tanach, Buddahavacana, Vedas, Kojiki, Communist Manifesto etc.) - plus Father Christmas and the tooth fairies .. unless/until they eventually learn differently.

(How else would any 'civilized' post-industrial nation of some 65 Million folk promote as a superior being - & worship by bowing before a 'supernatural' - the aged matriarch of a "royal family"?)
".. it's the bloody Unions that have ruined this country"

FACT: The United Kingdom is governed by a constitutional monarchy. (not a Democracy).

Wikipedia says:

Critics have linked "corporate brainwashing" with globalization, saying that corporations are attempting to create a world-wide mono-cultural network of producers, consumers, and managers.

A sub-genre is "corporate mind control", in which a future society is run by one or more business corporations which dominate society using advertising and mass media to control the population's thoughts and feelings.

 - Does this sound familiar to you?

Doomsday Clock - XMAS Piece & Goodiesl:

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells - Jingle All The Way ...
- All I want for Christmas -  is a box from USA ..

- Before you do your bit to support the December 'Free Market' and spend  too much on shop-bought prezzies  - you might like to pause and consider that the Doomsday Clock right now is set at three minutes to Midnight.

The Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists stresses the following:

"The Bulletin's clock is not a gauge to register the ups and downs of the international power struggle; it is intended to reflect basic changes in the level of continuous danger in which mankind lives in the nuclear age..."

I don't surely need to point-out that this graph is showing VERY high risk to mankind - & it does not include any input from the recent selection of President Elect Trump in USA.

So ...

- Do UK inmates still get a Three Minutes Warning  siren of incoming missiles .. or has that been cut for 'Austerity' reasons?

- Is it me ..or has the whole world gone mad?

It does seem that the UKs Nuclear Deterrent Trident submarine launched missiles now require THREE DAYS notice before they can be used (Budget Cuts again): - Current Trident replacement cost is 205 BILLION POUNDS. - and rising.

- Should the UK be devastated by a nuclear attack without you receiving your 3 minute warning entitlement - Please complain in writing to your local representative Member of Parliament (No postage stamp required).

Jerky, Six-Shooter & Rope:

After that morning cup of 'Arbuckles' and a mouthful of cold beans with a chew on  a piece of blackened 'jerky' * - our saddle hardened, bandy legged***, weather tanned hero would check his Colts, saddle and rope while likely cursing in Spanish, German or Gaelic - before catching his chosen mount from the 'Remuda ** or string of horses.

* Jerky is dried meat - often salted & spiced to improve preservation.
** Remuda is from the Spanish for 'change of horses'.
*** You can bet your ass that there's a good reason these boys walked a bit bandy-legged after a long day in the saddle eh.
Lassos are also referred to as a lariatriata, or reata (all from Spanish la reata), It is a loop of rope designed as a restraint to be thrown around a target and tightened when pulled. It is a well-known tool of the American cowboy. The word is also a verb; to lasso is to throw the loop of rope around something.

Although this tool has several proper names, such terms are rarely employed by those who actually use it -  nearly all cowboys simply call it a "rope," and the use of such is "roping."

 - To most cowboys, the use of other terms — especially "lasso" — identifies the user as a dickhead.

A lasso is made from stiff rope so that the noose stays open when the lasso is thrown. It also allows the cowboy to easily open up the noose from horseback - to release the cattle because the rope is stiff enough to be pushed a little.
- As a kid I remember using mums washing line to try make a lasso - without much luck or ability - almost certainly my failure was due entirely to my small floppy rope.
A high quality lasso is sometimes weighted for better handling. The lariat has a small reinforced loop at one end, called a honda or hondo, through which the rope passes to form a loop.

Many thanks are due to Wikipedia for all their reference materials.

This 'remuda' all seem to have a star on the face (- Not a "blaze" - which is a stripe).

I truly admire horses as beautiful animals - But I keep well clear since once helping load race-horses onto a cargo plane.

It has been said that horses are damn dangerous at both ends and bloody uncomfortable in the middle. (Much like revolvers eh).(- I felt the wind from that percussive steel shod hoof flash just inches past my face as I ducked).
Life is super good,

Politically Correct CAMP COFFEE Essence:

Dating back to 1885, this thick black syrup, a ‘secret blend’ of sugar, water, coffee and chicory essence, was originally made in Glasgow by R. Paterson and Sons Ltd. It came in a square, eight and a half fluid-ounce glass bottle - rather like HP Sauce. The original label showed a moustachioed Gordon Highlander sitting on a cushion drinking a cup of Camp.
No Tray.

Major General Sir Hector MacDonald was the model for the Gordon Highlander. The son of a crofter, he had worked his way up through the ranks of the regiment, serving with distinction

Later he was given command of the regiment’s troops in Ceylon - where charges of homosexuality were brought against him. - He shot himself in a Paris hotel in 1903.

ORIGINAL.

Can you spot the difference between the old bottle image & the later, (upper),  politically corrected image? - Yup, in the original bottle label the Sikh is obviously a 'servant' with a tray.

There might be a link here with homosexuals being known as "camp" - This was before they re-branded and re-launched this form of population control as 'Gay Liberation'.

Mum would sometimes buy a bottle of Camp coffee essence to make a post-war milky treat for us kids. She could sometimes even be persuaded to buy some reserved oranges.
UK Rationing formally ended in 1954.

 - as long as we promised to let them decorate the table in a bowl for at least a week - but she would never buy apples for us, as " You'd only eat them"!

Even Later - the Camp image was further revised to show the two seated
together sharing a quiet moment of friendship.
- Historical Revisionism eh.

Kiwis will confirm that there is/was a competing locally made version (still made in Australia) from Bushells. - A beverage made from this coffee essence - like powdered soluble "Instant Coffee" - is a distant relation to real coffee made from freshly ground beans - but it can be better than nothing when a drink is needed eh.
