- Within the secure curtilage of my home property I have two new pretty things - a Glock 19X Coyote Tan, and a stainless steel Ruger Mk.IV 'Hunter' model.

.. Comfy eh.

While both are strong & dependable tools chosen for function and looks .. it's notable that the NATO standard high capacity Glock weighs in as a lightweight 0.85 kg. while the smaller caliber .22 rim-fire Ruger bends my kitchen scales to a whopping 1.45 kg. - This high mass is with unloaded magazines in place and I do appreciate that the Glock's newtons will increase relatively with a full load of cartridges in position.

The Gen5 Glock (original from 1982) is smooth handling and comfortable in the hand (even the trigger feels good to me) .. whereas the brilliant looking all stainless-steel Mk.IV Ruger rim-fire - that originated way back in 1949 - tends to be uncomfortable and a bit "clunky".  My discomfort stems not only from it's weight & shapes but mainly from it's internals .. out of the box some moron has again installed a magazine disconnect that prevents normal function.

I challenge any bulls-eye shooter to train with one of these in standard form - as it's nearly impossible to safely dry fire.

- Remove the magazine - and the trigger is blocked .. insert an empty magazine and cock the trigger mechanism and the slide locks back .. remove the magazine and run the slide forward into battery and the trigger is again barred. In order to activate the trigger - insert magazine .. Magazine in place locks the slide open when you manually re-cock ......

- this is not to mention the intrusive 'SAFETY' that might be improved by taping in the 'Fire' position.
- The trigger is heavy too. - But the re-assembly & take-down for cleaning ARE easier for sure.

- Somewhat like a Colt 1911 - I'm sure that when I get the Mark IV properly modified it will be a treat to fire and it's heavy weight will help strengthen my forearms while beautifully dampening the two-two's already slight recoil impulses. - I had used plenty of the earlier Standard/Mk.II models without issues.

Meanwhile - the G19X is great .. I have fitted the large beaver-tail back-strap to it's grip but I may end-up rolling a segment of bike inner tube onto it (a "Glock Sock") to make it even fatter & softer.

It's also noteworthy that here in New Zealand I had to pay just about the same size wad of dollars (NZ$1,420 ish) for either 'gat' - both with three magazines.

How We Control Gun Rights:

A New Zealand firearms license .. a "F.Lic" is a valued 'document' here that takes the shape of a plastic photo-identity card renewable every 10 years.

 - There are more than 240,000 kiwis who can proudly show that they have proved to the licensing authorities that they are of good character - are "FIT AND PROPER" - have a clean criminal record - are mentally stable - have the confidence of both close family members and friends - and are not associated with gangs or gang members. NZ Shooters are both trained & certified.

'Kiwi' gun owners also have to install costly police approved secure storage - The whole system would need a book called 'The Arms Code' to detail .. if the latest issue hadn't been withdrawn.

THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS?

.. Article 7 of our British AND New Zealand Bill Of Rights clearly states:

" Subjects’ arms. That the subjects which are Protestants may have arms for their defence suitable to their conditions, and as allowed by law:"

- By the passing of the (NZ) Imperial Laws Application Act 1988 - the British Bill of Rights, unmodified, became part of New Zealand law.

The New Zealand licensing process is generally a good, sound, working system that keeps gun accidents & crime to a very low & unsensational level in a nation with much wilderness country and where hunting and control of pest animals is necessary. - BUT, - reading the latest 'CONSULTATION DOCUMENT' ** it is about to be seriously disrupted - Downsized & and Under-resourced.

There are of course some stupid regulations that run contrary to logic. e.g. If a shooter is proven to be safe to use a semi-auto rifle - what difference does it make if that equipment is fitted with a "free standing pistol grip, a higher capacity magazine, a telescoping butt-stock, or a bayonet lug - or even if it "looks like it does"? - The Police's own issue long-arms have such MSSA* features.

.. If an enthusiast joins a target pistol shooting club and gains a special endorsement for handguns - what logic dictates a minimum barrel length when pistols and revolvers are made in a variety of lengths and caliber? .. Surely either you are Fit & Proper - or you are not?

Ruger 327 Federal Magnum - Is 3 Inches Enough?

- If an enthusiast lawfully qualifies for both rifle use and handgun use - what logic stops this approved safe shooter from using a handgun for hunting?

The explanation can only be that these are rules for the sake of having rules - "Because I say so".

1961 Goldsboro Mk.39 Nuclear Bombs:

I don't want to harp-on about these 'broken arrow' events - but either these Mk. 15 / Mk. 39 thermonuclear bombs were unlucky or maybe VERY LUCKY nukes - either way it makes all the sensational anti-gun danger media stories an absolute sick joke that demonstrates the current lack of decent investigative reporting.

Mk.15 Hydrogen Bomb - In Government Control:

In the two years between 1955-57 USA built 1,200 Mk.15 HYDROGEN BOMBS.

These were relatively lightweight at 3,450 kg. ( 7,600 lb.) with a yield initially of 1.69 megatons but the yield increased later with the Mod 2 & 3 versions to 3.8 megatons.

The design was much enhanced during the Redwing Cherokee series of 17 tests conducted at Enewetak & Bikini Atolls - part of the Marshall Islands Trust Territory north of New Zealand.

The Mk.15 Mod I version came about as a result of extremely unpredictable results from the Castle Nectar test series of the ZOMBIE Weapon prototypes.

These fission-fusion devices used 400 pounds of high explosives to implode-initiate the plutonium core which in it's turn ignites the enriched uranium charge .. the uranium was enriched with tritium and deuterium.

A number of these nukes were constantly air-born in B-47 Nuclear Bombers readied for bombing strikes against the USSR.

On February 5 1958 an F-86L Sabre Fighter collided with one of these bombers causing it to then jettison it's hydrogen bomb load off the Georgia coast. It is still in the silt there 61 years later - under the sea despite a search for it by US military.

- While the search at Tybee Island was still being conducted, the Air Force had to divert some resources to Florence, South Carolina, where another H-bomb had been accidentally dropped by a B-47. 

This second bomb's conventional explosives detonated on impact, sending radioactive debris across the landscape. This explosion caused extensive property damage and several injuries. Fortunately there was no nuclear detonation.

Kel-Tec CNC Industries=INNOVATION:

Kel-Tec CNC Industries were founded in 1991 and made their first firearm of their own 'Brand' design in 1995.

They are located in COCOA Florida (there does seem to be a growing gun industry in Florida .. Kel-Tec, SCCY, Kalashnikov USA, Knights Armament Corporation, Givati Firearms ..)

The word INNOVATIVE seems to fully apply to Kel-Tec

I have NO direct experience with any Kel-Tec product .. but am keenly waiting for a PMR-30 ordered by a fellow club member to paddle across the Pacific Ocean and hopefully be "TYPE APPROVED" by NZ Police for recreational target pistol shooting here - on the second attempt.

One BIG feature of this PMR-30 is it's magazines - they hold THIRTY ROUNDS of .22" WMR cartridges while still fitting into the grips.

The very moment I heard about this .22 Magnum (WMR) design magazine I thought - "WOW .. what about .22" long rifle Rim Fire ??".

Well they were already 'on-to-that' with the CP33 now launched at the 2019 SHOT SHOW.

Here we go with 33 Round capacity .22" Rim-Fire "quad-stacked" magazines.

- For how many years have .22" handguns been restricted to ten round magazines?

.. There is an issue in some Countries and States - some authorities see a significant problem with their magazine capacities and with the shape of a popular 5.56x45 mm rifle .. for example - does a rifle have an 'evil' 😈 "free standing" PISTOL GRIP?

The real issue here is with the "authorities" who's poor understanding of violence & firearms leads them to their perception that the style of gun X makes it more EVIL and more likely to kill - than another style.. These well-meaning idiots totally ignore factors such as neglected and restricted HEALTH CARE RESOURCES for the mentally unstable, and the social conditions of poverty effecting the underclasses.
.. Well Kel-Tec have worked on this situation for it's customers with their Bullpup RDB-C model.
