Butts & Boxes:

CAUTION: Pouches will be HOT after heating.

Container and contents will be hot after heating. -Do they think that we are all morons?

To be clear about this - and to help you get a handle on the topic - I'm on about the BUTTS or STOCKS of old handguns or Pistols.

They Don't Like It Balanced There ..
- To get a grip of this in a balanced manner - these lads did not want to stay in place on the wooden walking stick, for my 'phone to show how handy old-fashioned WOOD can be.

I am a Glock 'fan boy' and think their polymer 2, NYLON 6 grips are great .. but 'mericans reared to love a Colt 1911 might opine differently eh
One take on one generation Glock ..
I worked in plastics injection molding for around 12 years - and some makers use 'Glass Filled' polymers in their pistols and some don't. - Filled plastic will be more rigid-strong while straight polymer will be more flexible-strong - all depending on shape and thickness eh.

Logically I'd say that the name 'GRIPS' best decribes this part of a pistol - but as it needs to house the magazine on a semi-auto repeater and the frame & mainspring mechanics on a revolver, there are restrictions on shaping them eh ..
Mmm - I know ..
Molded Synthetics
Gutta-percha first came into use in the Western Nations in the 1830s & '40s - while Hard Rubber started being used for revolver grips as Vulcanite in the 1850s. - 'Bakelite' was patented in 1907 - and was used by Colt, Luger and Mauser for grips .. and later again in Germany, Walther made the grips on their PPK pistols from an early thermoplastic 'TROLIT' (cellulose acetate). Some of those early plastic grips shrink over time and crack.

Gutta-percha comes from a different genera of tree (Palaquium, and Payena, Sapotaceae) and has different properties to Natural rubber (Hevea brasiliensis). - Now you know.

Wood still feels nicer to my hands - but there's no doubting the technical and economic advantages of current polymers used in production firearms.
OK .. Who actually noticed the twin triggers on this Walch Navy Revolver?
Wouldn't one of those be good to own?

These examples come very close to being simple handles, that may be prettied-up with checkering, stippling, or even silver escutcheons of various shapes.

- Sometimes the grips are fitted with a 'cap box'. I do like a nice box eh
Both front and rear entry is available for the unhinged ..

A Question for any Political Leader and Police Administrators: Did the Gun Maker, Merchants of Death - fit cap boxes to all flintlock pistols?

These nice pieces here are selected from some of my stuff that is, in the large part, cheap'n'nasty damaged and rusty wrecks .. but I have a lot of fun trying to fix them and 'improving' them as a hobby.

Those "Merchants of Death" such as Lockhead, RTX-Raytheon, Northrup Grummam, and General Dynamics .. Don't forget Boeing next time you go fly off on holiday as big makers of Cruise Missiles - these corporations are WAY BIGGER than the likes of Glock, S&W, Ruger, Winchester etc.

And it's not the pistols and rifles that threaten to end human society on this beautiful planet - but rather the Governments and their WMDs.
_____________

WHY are the zip flies on my new pants so bloody short - making for tiny openings? - Do the woke want me to sit to pee, leaving the seat down
We need a decent length fly to get the garment up and down past our hips anyway.
The 'FLY' is so called after the flap that covers the zip, buttons, or studs, - that flies open - the same as on a TENT FLY .. But why have they shrunk so as to make it nearly impossible to take an aimed leak while vertical?
The issue is not space for an supersized hosepipe, but getting the hand in to explore ..
Are you taking the piss?

Are YOU Fit and Proper?

Are NZ Police 'FIT AND PROPER PERSONS'?

"trust me".

- how many senior Police Commissioners have resigned/retired now?
