Hmm, - how about GARDEROBES ? Garderobes were chambers for the privys built into the castle walls - projecting outwards to permit deposits free gravitational assist to the collection area below.

It would have been aspirational for the baronial class to aquire their own private personal waste facility high above the vassels .. just as the starving minions also would aspire to a waged appointment as Gong Farmers, with their own cart and shovel, that afforded bread and ale to eat, together with the resale rights - forming their very own private enterprise.

This was the perfect early example of TRICKLE DOWN THEORY. - It seems that we all wish to improve our lot .. but some do so by shitting on those who shovel below.

She saw to it that the toilet seat solely used by HM Elizabeth II was placed over other toilets wherever she travelled. Of course she may not have done this personally. - She just was the person who ultimately got the splash back if something went wrong.
