I doubt many kiwi girls will be wearing bikinis .. but this years Waiau competition is organized for Labour Weekend, October 18th - Sunday 21st October - fundraising to go to the Waiau Pool Project Committee to help with building a new swimming pool - replacing the 91 year old pool destroyed in the 2016 "Kaikoura" quakes (actually started centered in Waiau).
Prizes are offered for heaviest boars & sows .. plus more for foot racing carrying dead-weight pork over an obstacle course .. and for junior's catches of hares & rabbits etc.
New Pool equipment is on the way by sea from Italy.
Weigh in time at the local Rugby Club Grounds is 4.00 pm Sunday 21 October.

Our locals hunt 'Captain Cooker' pigs in bush country with a team of pig-dogs and "go in with the knife" on foot .. as well as using rifles conventional hunting style.
