Under 'THE POLICING ACT 2008' ..
7New Zealand Police
(1)
- There continues to be
an instrument of the Crown
known as the New Zealand Police.
(2)
The New Zealand Police is the same organisation as that—
(a)
was established as the
Police Force
under the Police Force Act 1886;
NZ Police swear their oath to the monarch of New Zealand .. (NOT to Government or Parliament:
22Police employee becomes constable by taking constable’s oath
(1)
A Police employee may become a constable only by taking the constable’s oath, in either of the following forms, before the Commissioner or a person authorised by the Commissioner to administer the constable’s oath:
“English form
“I, [name], swear that I will faithfully and diligently serve
Her (or His) Majesty
[specify the name of the reigning Sovereign], Queen (or King) of New Zealand, her (or his) heirs and successors, without favour or affection, malice or ill-will. While a constable I will, to the best of my power, keep the peace and prevent offences against the peace, and will, to the best of my skill and knowledge, perform all the duties of the office of constable according to law. So help me God.
NZ Police have their own Code of Behavior ..
The Independent Police Conduct Authority (IPCA, Māori: Mana Whanonga Pirihimana Motuhake) is an independent civilian oversight body that considers complaints against the New Zealand Police and oversees their conduct. It derives its responsibilities and powers from the Independent Police Conduct Authority Act. Under section 12.1 of the Act, the Authority's functions are to receive complaints alleging misconduct or neglect of duty by police employees; or concerning any practice, policy, or procedure of New Zealand Police and to take action as contemplated by the Act. It may also investigate any police incident involving death or serious bodily harm and make recommendations to the Commissioner of Police based on those investigations.
The IPCA has no ability to prosecute police, and can only make recommendations - which the police are not obliged to follow.
Police don't appear to have any written obligation of service to the New Zealand people that I can find.
However - despite NZ Police each swearing their loyalty to the pro-gun shooting & hunting Royals .. they are right now conjoined with the Labour Government in punitive restrictive prohibitive anti-gun legislation and regulation that contravenes the New Zealand Bill of Rights.
There are lawyers within the ranks of Fit and Proper licensed NZ firearms owners .. A United Firearms Lobby if formed would have no difficulty obtaining legal guidance.
