British NITRO Muzzle Loader .357" Revolver

Westlake Engineering in UK are producing modified double-action muzzle loading revolvers that can be issued with a FAC and be legally held there. -  Needs must when faced with stupid unnecessary legislation.

They come with specially machined cylinder chambers that are primed - charged and loaded with bullets (not cartridges) while off the gun.

Extra cylinders are available and are loaded using a measured 3gn charge of 'Herco' nitro powder and then a 148gn soft-lead wad-cutter or round-nose  .357" dia. bullet is inserted into the chambers using the provided press. - The cylinder may then be re-mounted onto the open yoke and  #209 shotgun primers are hand fitted using thumb pressure to complete the loading sequence.

This particular 'Match Grade' revolver costs 850 Pounds (that's around NZ$1,700 ) - but other "yoke !"  revolvers are made for British target shooters.

Westlakes web-site indicates that it is a changing scene with difficulties obtaining base revolvers from some makers - but these guys are an example of the lengths Brits have to go-to nowadays in order to carry-on handgun shooting there - while complying with British Firearms Law - which prohibits cartridge-loading 'short firearms'.

An 'Armscor' Muzzle Loading nitro Revolver from Westlake UK
This 'Armscor' above is quoted @ 495 pounds UK.
- Looking "on-the-bright-side" - I guess that shooting one of these (slowly) will save the cost of brass cartridge cases - and having to keep them shiny!

After researching & writing 1,036 blogs I've got something NEW to try .. I've signed-up to Patreon. - In over five years I've not made one cent from this .. NOW you can send me a wee support $ - starting from $1. to get all this stuff from New Zealand - over a year that's nearly the price of one Shooting magazine. - Am I worth it?
