Self titled "Safety Expert" & Philistine Alpers used to call himself a "researcher and forensic consultant"  but he is principle of GunPolicy.org - which of course pays his salary and expenses - and he has a room at the Sydney School of Public Health where he claims to be supported by a close partner organisation  The Centre for Armed Violence Reduction (CAVR) a non-profit "public health group" ... that he also set-up. - He's big on pretentious titles.

Alpers is a media presenter who likes titles .. claiming for himself to be  'Adjunct Associate Professor' at the School of Public Health in Sydney.

 (He has no health qualification).

It should be noted that Alpers did not attend or obtain any academic qualification from any recognised University - until granted this adjunct (something added). - While "associate" means to be close-to or 'connected in the mind or imagination'.

 - He is however, founding "director" of Gun Policy.org and director of the Centre for armed Violence Reduction ( Alpers loves a grand title eh). - His stated lofty & worthy purposes are International firearm injury prevention and policy.

It is indeed a sorry fact that in the 75 years since the end of World War II there have been roughly a million combatants slaughtered every year by the military actions of GOVERNMENTS.

It is not the privately owned sporting firearms of licensed shooters that have caused these fatalities.

- Those terrible deaths and injuries are the direct result of government forces seeking to extend the influence of their leaders

Most non-military deaths from shootings are self-inflicted suicides by unhappy people choosing to end it all.

If Alpers was serious about his stated aims of 'International firearm injury prevention and policy - he might better redirect his attempts towards opposing the use of MILITARY DEFENCE FORCES to extend the political ambitions of national Governments.

It is odd that his main financial sponsor from the 

United Nations

has not yet required that he redirect his research and policy efforts towards the main origins of weapons deaths .. GOVERNMENTS - DEPRESSION & DESPAIR

 .. The guns are said to have continued in use for training right up until the late '50s when they were finally reduced to scrap metal and exported to Japan - but IMAGES of these BL Mk. XXIV guns are not to be found .

NO GUNS .. But replacement Graffiti - After Spending $140,000 - to Have Graffiti Removed:

- When in 1878 New Zealand became paranoid about the RUSSIANS - Governor Jervois, a military engineer in a previous career, bought 22 x Rifled Muzzle Loading guns for installation around the coastline. 

NONE of these was installed at Godley Head .. the idea was mooted - but it wasn’t until 1937 after Hitler re-armed Germany in 1933 .. approval was finally given for the construction of gun emplacements there.

- Although 2,000  -  3,000 military personnel are claimed as being posted on windswept Godley Head .. plus Home Guard units - No use of these last three Mk. XXIV guns is ever reported.

In 1938 a Major Edmey, of the British Army carried out a survey of the defences of the major ports. In consequence of this visit it was decided to position a coastal defence battery on Godley Head - that had been reserved for military purposes since 1851. Later that year work began on improving road access to the head.

The battery was to be at the tip of the headland where it commanded the best view of the approaches to the harbour. In July of 1939 Cabinet voted finance for the construction of fortifications and work began immediately. - While the construction work was in progress, a temporary battery known as Taylor Battery was sited on the small promontory on the Northern side of the headland.
 In September 1939, some 60 pound field guns of 1818 vintage were resurrected from Burnham Camp and positioned at Taylor Battery.

The two gun emplacements at Godley Battery, - the search light emplacements, observation posts, engine rooms, plotting and buildings necessary for the operation of a coastal defence battery were largely completed by early 1940.
 - However, difficulty in obtaining the new weapons necessitated the continued placement of the obsolete 60 pounder field pieces.
In July 1941 the British Admiralty lent New Zealand several ex-naval 6" Mk VII guns, two of which are said to have been mounted on emplacements at Taylors Battery, as replacements for the ancient 60 pounder artillery pieces.

 Later in December of that same year 1941 - two 6" Mk XXIV guns were supposedly mounted at Godley Battery - the Mk VIIs being moved to Queen Charlotte Sound. - A third Mk XXIV was said to have been added in 1946. (Japan had surrendered earlier on August 14, 1945 ).

In addition to the artillery pieces. Godley Head was equipped with radar, a radio transmitter and a signal station - for identifying and "controlling" the passage of ships .. and later in the war as an aid to gun laying. Much of this equipment was operated by WAACs who arrived at Godley Head in August 1942 and who lived in huts to the north of the parade ground.

In order to defend the battery against a sea borne invasion, the land east of Mt Pleasant was declared a fortress area. - Despite the very steep nature of the Godley Head bluffs and cliffs - the Home Guard set up tank traps - and entanglements along the beaches beneath the cliffs.

 - and on Godley Head itself several anti-aircraft Bofors and machine gun nests were positioned with associated slit trenches. The remains of this activity are still visible today, especially around the hill behind the camp.

None of the guns that are said to have been installed saw enemy action. - in June 1941 a German mine-layer, " Adjutant", laid a pattern of 10 mines at the mouth of Lyttelton Harbour, under cover of night before being scuttled only days later on 1 July 1941 off the Chatham Islands.

  - Nothing was known of this until four years later when it was revealed in captured German documents. None of the mines has ever been found.

GODLEY HEAD FORTRESS:

At the end of the war the camp closed but it opened again in 1949 for compulsory military training and for territorials. The end of compulsory military training and abandonment of coastal defences in 1958 made Godley Head obsolete .. closing in 1963 and since then it has only been used for occasional exercises.

I had visited the area prior to the two Christchurch earthquakes and there were no guns to be seen anywhere.

GUN GRABBER PM Ardern Has FOUR ARMED GUARDS:

Some citizens might think that it's hypocritical and dishonest for the person determined to disarm all New Zealanders .. herself  to have FOUR armed police guards on duty 24 hours a day.

HER security is assured.

"When Ardern is home during daylight hours, neighbours describe up to four DPS agents guarding her modest two-bedroom home from the street. Two of them sit in an unmarked SUV with the engine running, while another two sit in separate unmarked cars."

Now - I don't object to our 'Supreme Leader' having security .. because guns are good - but I strongly object to her personal police force wrongly insisting that I have no right to own any firearm and that if I - at 75 years of age - am worried about my self defence I should contact the Citizens Advise Bureau to see if my local Council runs any "empty-hand" training ..

I know that I'm no expert on anything .. but I do research stuff & have long been interested in how both practise & training works - & how "advertising" - marketing and mental conditioning or BRAIN WASHING (including propaganda) also work .. they are all a type of training eh.

These techniques all use the same neural systems and myelin inside our heads to change how we function.

"THEY" ARE MESSING WITH YOUR HEAD.
 - I definitely have no qualification in PSYCHOLOGY -  'Public Relations' or other brain science - but I know that repetition of a skill - or of information will fix it into your head .. even when it is not wanted or is not true. - Your actions and beliefs can be changed by doing, hearing or seeing the same input over & over. - That is how advertising, marketing, politics and propaganda works. Repetition.

This is perhaps why the English are so .. well, -  "English" or why Australians are so "Aussie".

There's nothing odd or strange that children brought-up in a Jewish home are Jewish believers. - or that children raised as Catholics by parents, priests and religious schools .. are Catholics. They have been repeatedly told again & again what to believe.

- If you were made to learn your 'times tables' by repetition - I bet you can still do mental sums and work-out prices faster than the shop salesperson.

Ordinary folk are being repeatedly told that GUNS ARE BAD .. even police management "believe this"- despite their jobs to enforce law by using GOOD GUNS.

Folk who repeatedly see TV advertising for a new wonder square line garden trimmer will tend to buy one .. THAT is why the marketing men pay big dollars for the advertising. - They don't waste their profits on anything that doesn't work.

The OLDEST Known Handgun is 732 y.o:

THE HEILONGJIANG Hand Gun:

This gun is described as a bronze HAND-CANNON - it is 13.4 inches (34 cm) long and has a one inch bore (2.6cm) with a 6.9 inch long barrel.

This firearm is at least 732 years old.

The Heilongjiang hand-gun is dated to 1288 (or earlier) and - like everything else nowadays was made in China.

Gunpowder was invented - where else - in China way back in the 9th century - and before this earliest known example of a metal handgun there were various cannon, fire-lances, fire pots, grenades and gunpowder bombs. 

- Weighing 7.83 pounds (3.55 kg.) the gun's 2.6 inch bulbous chamber has thick walls and a 'touch-hole for ignition. Behind the chamber there is a conical socket for a wooden stock.

.. Wouldn't it be a great experiment for someone to get a modern replica turned-up and to fire it up on range with various light charges and projectiles such as the original rocks & arrows? - They might do it properly using ballistic Gel and a chronograph while firing remotely .. but really - if using decent modern metal there would be little risk of failure.

The Mk.IV Ruger .22" is generally beautifully made and finished - but what has happened here to this unbalanced lump of a "Pinnochio" pistol?

I won't be shame-faced disposing of my very nicely made four inch SP101 revolvers in 327 Fed Magnum & .22" rim-fire - because they handle & work so well .. and I'll display my Mk IV Hunter model with it's beautifully fluted barrel at every chance * .. but my ear protectors will have to work well to mask the noise from those two dogs barking above.

*The last time I ran a couple of mags through the wee shiny thing - it flicked a hot case over my head and down my neck/collar .. I shrugged it off only for it to drop down further and land on my back 'love handles' .. two small blister burns for one pop !
